At the end of the 2008 season, Honda decided to pull the plug on their racing team. The team, the staff and even the drivers had no place in the Formula 1 season for 2009. The drivers, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, were left without seats and with no time to find new teams, but then a management buy-out led by team principal, Ross Brawn, and chief executive, Nick Fry, would secure the team for the 2009 season under the new name of Brawn GP. With a raft of rule changes for the 2009 season, to say Brawn GP made the most of them and hit the ground running is a huge understatement.
